I’ve recently had the opportunity to photograph Ms. Jess Hawk. Armed with a 50 f/1.4, a set of Alien Bees, soft boxes and honeycombs, I, with my faithful side kick, Fat Tom, went to work. The first image was with two comically large, ridiculously clumsy, undoubtedly overkill, 47″ Octoboxes. The strobe to the camera’s left, was parallel to the model, but aimed at the wall behind her. The strobe to the model’s left, was at a 45° angle, located mid range between Jess and I. The second and third were both contrived by carefully placing narrowly honeycombed grids on two strobes, and strategically aiming them.
