A Secret Rendezvous

Monday, August 24th, 2009

It’s been a few week since we shot this particular series and we’re just finally are able to post these long awaited photos our ‘Secret Rendezvous’ photo shoot.

The story is about two secret lovers, portrayed by models Yes and Jeremy, meeting at a secluded beach away from peering eyes. We wanted the models  to show a strong connection and intimacy in each shot – we believe they nailed it.  Click – A Secret Rendezvous to view more from their set.

Prom…

Monday, May 25th, 2009

I’m really excited with how this turned out, spent a lot of time on it and I think it shows. Hair light, light to her front left, and rim light behind. Bought a prom dress from a consignment store, and a gallon o’ blood from Party City. I was asked to do the flyer for Goth Prom, and I believe this works – jR

when models dont listen

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

This shot was made with 2 800w Alien Bees, white backdrop (!!!), and absolutely no blood. I decided to go on a photoshop adventure and try something new, and I’m happy with where I ended. I used the lasso tool to create the shape of blood, variations for tone and color, sharpening tool for texture, amongst other methods, and lots of burning, dodging, history brush-ing and layering :] -jR

Flour + Water = Zombie?

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

It’s been a while since my last post, and no good reasoning behind this except that it’s spring. Every spring I tend to lose focus on whatever I’ve been focusing on for the rest of the year. In this case, photography. My creative juices stop flowing, my camera collects dust, and my mind rots, all while I take in the beautiful weather, drink beer, and hang out with my friends. Thank God for school, and it’s assignments, right?

This shot is the result of trying too hard to think, listening to an abundance of Pulling Teeth, Integrity, and Ceremony, and playing Resident Evil 5. The “makeup” is just what the title of this entry implies; A nice mixture of flour, and water slathered all over my model’s face, and just a smidgen of fake blood for the inverted cross. The lighting was done with two Alien Bee AB800’s, both with 40 degree honey-comb grids, if I remember correctly. One on camera-left, almost directly on the side of my model. The second, placed camera-right, was elevated to about 7 feet, and placed right, and back so it shined down at about a 45 degree angle to the subject.
